Otavalo (Oh-tah-VAH-loh) is a city with a population of about 40,000 that lies within the Andean Highlands of Ecuador just an hour north of the national capitol of Quito. The city lies between three inactive volcanoes named Imbabura, Cotacachi, and Mojanda. The Mojanda volcano forms a beautiful lake at the city’s southeastern outskirts.
There are a number of evangelical churches in the area around Otavalo, but pastors and leaders are eager to receive training. A Reaching & Teaching pastor-training project is currently underway in the city. Theological training is a priority due to charimatic influneces and historic animism among the population.
