Guachochi is nestled in the Sierra Madre Occidental, more specifically the region known as the Sierrra Tarahumara. Some adventure seeking tourists visit the nearby Copper Canyons to hike, climb and run the trails of the Tarahumara. The Tarahumara people found refuge from the Spanish by hiding in the in the remote parts of the canyons centuries ago. Today, they survive in the canyons, sharing the Gospel from village to village.
The training at Guachochi is a strategic opportunity to equip pastors and leaders from accross this region. The classes meet in the Iglesia Bautista Guachochi in the center of town. The site will host 25-30 Tarahumara and Mestizo pastors, missionaries and leaders.
All team members are expected to procure a copy of: "Hearts, Heads, and Hands: A Manual for Training Others to Train Others" and have read: "Foreign to Familiar: A Guide to Understanding Hot - And Cold - Climate Cultures."
Reaching & Teaching is seeking like-minded partnering churches that will send qualified teachers to Guachochi 1 to 3 times per year for the duration of the 3-year training program.
Those who participate on this trip will teach an overview of the Old Testament, give instruction on the spiritual discipline of Bible Intake and God's Call to Ministry.
